OPeNDAP allows one to give a application a url and have it directly download data. To read this data into matlab use 
loaddap('http://129.236.110.25/SOURCES/.OLE2/.CPT/.ESCENARIO1/.WETDAY/%5BS%5Ddifferences/Y+differences/%5BX+Y+S+%5Drmsaover/dods')
